A Brief History of Gedikpasa Hammam
Gedikpasa Hammam was built in 1475 by the grand vizier Gedik Ahmed Pasha, to the design of the architect Mimar Hayrettin — only about two decades after the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul, which makes it one of the oldest hammams still in use in the city. We had a wonderful experience at this traditional Turkish hammam. Beautiful building and everything inside was clean, relaxing and peaceful. My therapist, Urgan, was excellent. The scrub and massage were amazing. I felt refreshed and completely relaxed afterward. Highly recommended!

Pleasant visit – basic package
Lovely experience in a beautiful building. I got the basic package Hammam Ritual 3400 tl. Lying down on warm marble then buckets of cool water poured over – super refreshing! Got scrubbed with a loofah firmly, but not ridiculously hard, I didn’t feel like I was being scratched. The foam massage was my favourite part, so dreamy like being in a cloud. Apparently the massage thing is not very authentic but I enjoyed it so didn’t really care. They also washed my hair which I was not expecting, but it was nice and refreshing on a stinking hot summers day. The shampoo left my hair feeling a bit rough, but no big deal I will just put some conditioner in it when I get homeI read some negative reviews on google about mould and cleanliness but I have no idea what they’re talking about, everything was clean and hygienic and I saw zero mould. Maybe they got confused with a different place.My therapist was lovely too and we communicated fine despite the language barrier. I will try to come back if I have time before I leave

The best Turkish bath
Oh, this is a MUST to do when in Istanbul. Clean, friendly dedicated staff. The place is beautiful. It is Heaven on Earth. Affordable, we had the Traditional ritual 70€+tip if you want, but well deserved! We had Turkish coffee while we waited and after the bath they treated us with tea and sweets. Barrie was my attendant: respectfully, gentle and scrubbed off all my dead skin. The bubble massage is incredible. It is was such a great experience I wish it to everyone. Thank you to everyone there. They were wonderful.

A Perfect Traditional Experience, So Relaxing!
We had an incredible experience at Gedikpasa Hamam. We were a little late due to Istanbul traffic, but the staff were so welcoming, Guvenc greeted us warmly and nothing was a problem.We were shown in, changed into disposable shorts and sliders, and led to the warm marble stones to relax. The traditional scrub and soapy massage that followed was thorough and left us feeling completely refreshed. We also booked the foot massage, which came at the end and was amazing, deep, relaxing, and expertly done.The whole team was lovely and attentive, and the experience felt authentic and unhurried. After a long day of sightseeing the day before, this was the perfect way to unwind, and the perfect way to return to our Virgin cruise feeling chilled and reset.Highly recommend if you’re looking for a traditional Turkish bath experience with friendly service and great value.

I had a wonderful experience at Gedikpaşa Historical Turkish Bath. The place is authentic and full of history you really feel the atmosphere of old Istanbul.The staff was extremely kind and professional. I have hyperkyphosis, meaning my back is curved and sensitive, and I truly appreciated that the person giving me the massage noticed this. He was very gentle, careful, and adjusted the pressure perfectly. I left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and genuinely cared for.If you’re looking for a real Turkish bath experience not overly touristy, but warm and traditional I highly recommend this place. A must do when in Instanbul
If you have not been to a traditional Turkish bath before, I would highly recommend the Gedikpasa Hamami. Getting a transfer from where you are staying is worth while as we enjoyed being whisked through the city in a golf buggy and you will not want to walk after after the spa as you will be so relaxed. 90 mins flies by and you leave feeling wonderful with incredibly soft skin ! My only criticism is how noisy the female massage cubicles are with staff walking back and forth with doors closing loudly… this did detract from the relaxed ambiance but not the overall experience.

Gedikpasa Hamami Rest
The building of the hamam is historical, the entrance is reconstructed in a modern way, but in the old style. The hamam is separate for men and women, together you can only drink tea after the procedures.The hamam itself is interesting, if you go alone, then you should take at least the minimum procedures – just sitting in a warm room is not the most interesting activity.Massage and foam wash are quite an interesting experience, I liked it.

Turkish Bath
This was my first experience getting a Turkish bath while visiting Istanbul and I must say that it was an amazing experience! My daughter and I both had it done in the comfort of only women. Oznur really worked on my feet to alleviate some of my back pain. I highly recommend having one done!

My First Hammam at Gedikpasa
The place is really clean and beautiful. My attendance Safiye is really nice and great at guiding me through my first hammam. I really enjoyed my time at Gedikpasa. The only criticism is that the receptionist can be a little friendly. I didn’t feel as welcomed at first as there was lack of smile and warmth from the receptionist. Thank you Gedikpasa for my first hammam experience in Istanbul!
