A Brief History of Gedikpasa Hammam
Gedikpasa Hammam was built in 1475 by the grand vizier Gedik Ahmed Pasha, to the design of the architect Mimar Hayrettin — only about two decades after the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul, which makes it one of the oldest hammams still in use in the city. Perfect thing to do at the end of a long day!
The bathing is an experience I have never had before and it was INCREDIBLE! From starting with relaxation on a marble slab to prepare your body for the bath to the scrubbing the day away, you just melt into your space. The bubbles, scrubbing and changes in water temperature was exactly what my body needed after a long day of international travel and full tour days. We finished with a massage and facial. It was a perfect way to end the day and prepare to wind down for a good night’s sleep. This is a MUST!! The staff was warm, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable. The uniqueness of this Hamman is the historic space. 5/5 stars!

100% recommend to come as a couple
It was the best experience we had as a couple. The staff is super nice and speaks great English. They guide you nicely through the process and are very friendly. It is not awkward at all and they are very respectful. It is very clean and when we went, it happened that it was basically empty, which is super cool to get a private experience. After you’re done, you’re served a lemonade, some sort of Turkish juice, and of course Turkish delight. I would come back 100%. It was a great experience.

Feels like a cloud
I had a wonderful experience in this 14th century Hamam. Although fairly pricey, the treatment is extremely relaxing and like nothing I had ever experienced. A must do activity if you are visiting Istanbul. The foam massage feels like a cloud. I have never been so clean.

Great first experience!
My dad and I went during our time in Istanbul. First time going to a hamam for either of us. 10 out of 10! The interior was beautiful and very clean. We were guided step by step through the process. We both did Pasha’s dream, which is the classic service plus a 30 min massage. My guy was Arif who did a wonderful job. We went at 2pm kn Saturday and were basically the only people there. I wish we were staying in Istanbul longer so we could go again!
