A Brief History of Gedikpasa Hammam
Gedikpasa Hammam was built in 1475 by the grand vizier Gedik Ahmed Pasha, to the design of the architect Mimar Hayrettin — only about two decades after the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul, which makes it one of the oldest hammams still in use in the city. The experience was definitely one to remember. The staff were so nice, had a wonderful experience with therapist Ness. Love it that they are open until 11pm, perfect after a day of touring Istanbul.

Unique experience in historic setting
Went on an October Friday at 7 pm without a reservation. I was able to get in after a 30 minute wait. Guests continue to arrive without reservations and they were able to accommodate a few more and then started turning people away. The neighborhood around the historic bath was dirty and seedy looking. It was a 15 minute walk from the area of the Blue Mosque. The bath itself was lovely. There was no high pressure sale – $84 for the basic Ritual bath, more expensive options available and clearly described. A tour guide recommended this location for its historic atmosphere and cleanliness. I was very satisfied, but it was my first and only so I can’t compare. I went to a changing room which had a key lock. I put on the provided towel, disposable underwear and sliders. I locked my belongings in the room. I laid on a hot stone for 10 minutes with 6 other ladies, then was taken to an adjacent room with two tables for washing. I was scrubbed, soaped, and rubbed for 20ish minutes. The lady bathing me was kind and smiley, but spoke no English. Then I went and changed back. Wish I had brought a clean change of clothes. My husband waited while I was there and enjoyed complimentary tea and turkish dellight as well as an entertaining kitten.

Excellent
It is an amazing experience!!! And the staff is very friendly. Turkan and Guvenc are the ultimate.Highly recommended, in the end you get a tea and some typical Turkish sweets.

Clean, fríenly, lively hammam
Lovely, traditional hammam. The entire place was very clean and peaceful. I would absolutely recommend friends and family here. The staff are very friendly and the front desk staff speak perfect English. There’s also a super cute cat which of course is bonus points for me. 70 Euro for a traditional hammam which is pricey but about average for Istanbul.

Don’t miss this!!
Don’t miss this amazing Turkish experience. The Turkish bath and massage was so relaxing, calming and revitalising. The therapists are experts and so kind and thorough. Feeling very shiny and happy as I left this beautiful and historical building.

Fantastic! 10/10 recommend
This was an incredible experience. We added a foot massage to the package and it was worth it. The bathhouse is private and the ladies were so lovely and did an amazing job and scrubbing, washing and massage. I feel like a new woman! The room is stunning and very intricate to look at. The tea and Turkish delights after were a treat.
