A Brief History of Acemoglu Hammam
Acemoglu Hammam dates to the 15th century, the era of Fatih Sultan Mehmed, and takes its name from the Acemi Oglan — the young recruits trained in the Vezneciler quarter for the Ottoman Janissary corps. Cruise Activity
We were in Istanbul for one day as we were on a cruise. We walked everywhere very easily.Instead of doing a tour of the blue mosque etc, we decided to see those amazing buildings from the outside and go for an authentic Turkish bath. It was AMAZING!I went with my husband and parents. This is one of the few establishments that allows mixed bathing. We remained together until we went for our massages (added extra, trust me add it on)My therapist Cindy, looked after me ensuring nothing went in my eyes and the massage she gives is pure heaven!

Great family hammam
We took a family private hammam. After a bit of a muddle when we arrived, as two other groups arrived at the same time, the staff made us very welcome. We took a swim, sauna, steam before, the enjoyed a family hammam and massage. The experience couldn’t have been more enjoyable in such a beautifully historic setting. I would totally recommend it at the start of your trip to Istanbul. Thank you 🙏

Great first hamam experience
This was my first hamam experience and I was very well taken care of by Lass, who was absolutely lovely and very professional. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The package I went for included a massage, which was great. It was a really nice surprise to be offered use of the pool afterwards and there was a sauna and steam room. I felt much more relaxed afterwards.

A Truly Rejuvenating First Turkish Bath, Amazing Experience from Start to Finish
I just had my very first Turkish bath experience with my wife for our joint birthday at Acemoğlu Historical Turkish Bath with Private Options, and it was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in the door until we left. Walking in, the host immediately put us at ease the warm marble, the lighting, the warmth of the water. The staff welcomed us graciously and explained everything so we knew what to expect. The private option was a real treat, having that personal space made the entire experience feel special and intimate.Definitely will visit again, you should try it too.

Unreal Hamam Experience in Istanbul, A Must-Do!As an Aussie travelling through Istanbul, I was dead set on finding a proper, authentic Turkish bath none of that tourist trap stuff. After asking around and doing a bit of digging, I ended up at Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamamı in Karaköy… and honestly, it blew me away.The place itself is stunning, Ottoman era architecture, with these massive domes and warm marble everywhere. You walk in and immediately feel calm. It’s not some flashy modern spa it’s traditional, classy, and really well looked after.I went for the full treatment, warm up room, then the proper kese scrub (seriously, they scrub off layers you didn’t even know you had), followed by this dreamy bubble wash massage. Afterwards, they wrapped me up in towels and gave me sherbet and tea to chill with. What I loved most?It felt genuinely authentic. The staff were respectful and professional and everything ran smoothly without feeling rushed or commercial. I’ve done spa treatments before, but this felt like something way deeper. You leave feeling lighter, both physically and mentally.Quick tips for fellow Aussies: • Book ahead it’s popular for a reason. • Go with an open mind the scrubbing’s intense but worth it. • No need to bring anything they sort you out with all the gear. • Don’t skip the tea!If you’re after the real hamam experience in Istanbul, this is it. It’s one of the best things I’ve done on this trip felt like I got a piece of the culture, not just a fancy bath.

Needs upgrading
First thing is that the haman is located in the hotel, but is not clearly labeled. If tou ask for the spa you get sent to the hotel.spa which is not the same.Second is that the place is in need of some upgrading. It is pretty dingy.The locker room are two closet sized room with multiple lockers. There is no place to sit while you change or anything. They are only big enough for one person to stand and change (two if you’re small and don’t mind being up close and personal) so if you go with a group there is that.We also each booked separately but somehow we were placed in the massage rooms as pairs which was not anticipated. They also kept opening the door and leaving it open as we were lying there naked from the top up.The ambiance is also not very relaxing. During our massages blaring commercials frequently interrupted the spa music. They need to invest in ad free options.And lastly there was nothing semi private about what we experienced. The scrub itself was nice and well done but overall it wasn’t the expected experience and I would definitely pick a different bathhouse next time

Such a cool experience!
The ladies who gave us our Turkish bath and massage were wonderful. It’s such a cool experience and makes you feel like royalty. Great customer service from start to finish. Ladies bring your hair brush and make-up if you’re not going back to your hotel afterwards, as you are literally scrubbed from head to toe.
